There's also the separate issue around those massive data centres destroying the environment and negatively impacting the communities (so more reason it will restrict population growth and increase costs to life)

Yup.

In Teesside, the site that will now house a data centre was reportedly also in consideration for a hydrogen plant first. And the research shows that in the US, data centres disproportionately affect communities already experiencing other forms of social disadvantage. (Because of course, which WASPy, gentrified community is going to accept a massive data centre on their doorstep?)
